Last week we talked about breakfast swaps you can make to help reduce the amount of additives you’re consuming. After thinking a little bit more about it, I realized that my easiest, go to breakfast is a smoothie. Here is the best smoothie recipe ever! It’s my favorite because it is so customizable, but also makes sure your breakfast packs a nutrient dense punch.

The Best Smoothie Recipe Ever
1- 1 1/2 cups berries of choice (think blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, blackberries, dark cherries. You can get big bags of organic berries at Costco! I really like the Wyman’s wild blueberries – they don’t have to be organic as they are wild.)
big handful of spinach (or green of choice)
1 scoop protein powder. I use this one
¼ of a regular avocado
1 tbsp of nut butter (make sure the nut butter is just nuts and salt, no other additives)
1 -2 tsp of ground flax seed
Optional 1-2 dates (adds a bit of sweetness naturally and full of minerals)
Optional grated ginger (adds warming to the smoothie)
8 -10 ounces of nut milk (Three Trees is my favorite, I also like Malk, and Califia Farms Organic. All can be found at Whole Foods.)
8-10 ounces filtered water
